OUR PROGRAMS

 

We offer a fun, interactive environment for people of all ages to learn and continue their Spanish education. What makes our programs unique is that our classes are designed to be an engaging, enjoyable experience for the person no matter their language skill level.  Classes use a mixture of games, songs, arts & crafts as well as other cultural activities to reinforce language comprehension and communication ability.

Learning Objectives

Foundational Knowledge Stage:

By the end of the initial foundational knowledge stage students will be able to….

  • Identify letters of the Spanish alphabet

  • Explain the difference between the English and Spanish alphabet

  • Recite the Spanish alphabet

  • Write the Spanish alphabet

  • Identify colors in Spanish

  • Write the colors in Spanish

  • Identify shapes in Spanish

  • Name the days of the week

  • Name the months of the year in Spanish

  • Name the four seasons of the year

  • Describe moods/feelings in Spanish

  • Count from 1-50 in Spanish

Working Knowledge

By the end of the working knowledge stage students will be able to….

  • Identify the parts of the human body in Spanish

  • Identify animals in Spanish

  • Identify fruits in Spanish

  • Identify vegetables in Spanish

  • Count 1 to 100 in Spanish

  • Describe common nouns

  • Describe common verbs/actions

  • Recall important every day vocabulary words such as “bathroom/baño” or “street/calle”

  • Construct simple sentences such as “My name is/Mi nombre es”

  • Read simple sentences

  • Write simple sentences

  • Ask important questions in Spanish such as “Where is the bathroom/Adonde esta el baño”

  • Respond and answer common questions in Spanish

 

Performative Knowledge

By the end of the performative knowledge stage students will be able to….

  • Distinguish the differences in punctuation and grammar in Spanish versus English

  • Describe the gendered differences in the Spanish language

  • Explain the uses of accents in Spanish writing

  • Describe common synonyms and antonyms

  • Read whole sentences in Spanish

  • Write whole sentences in Spanish

  • Understand the difference between preterit/imperfect tenses in Spanish

  • Begin simple conversations
